Kate and Pippa – and The Dukan Diet
It looks like The Dukan Diet is set to be all the rage.
Kate Middleton’s mum followed it in preparation for the Royal Wedding and lost a considerable amount of weight on it. Millions watched the Royal Wedding on TV recently and Kate and Pippa Middleton are now hot topics, particularly when it comes to their incredibly slim figures. Although neither has said for definite that they have been following the Dukan diet, rumour has it that Dukan is their diet secret. The result? Searches on Google for The Dukan Diet have gone through the roof!
I have been doing some research on the Dukan diet plan, and you will most certainly lose weight on this diet if you follow it exactly. You won’t necessarily find it easy, but you will lose weight!
The Dukan Diet was introduced by the French Dietitian Dr Pierre Dukan in France about 10 years ago. It has already sold more than 1.5 million copies and has been a top 10 hit on the French Amazon website for three years. It’s only recently that it’s become big news in the UK.
The first phase of the diet is called the “attack” phase, and concentrates on low fat protein, so you’ll be eating a lot of chicken and fist to start off with. If you bear in mind that the first phase of the Atkins diet allows you full fat protein, and some people have lost 7 pounds in the first week of Atkins alone, you can imagine how much you can lose during this phase of the Dukan diet!
The second phase is called the “cruise” phase, where non-starchy vegetables are introduced, like broccoli and mushrooms and you then start to do alternate days of protein-only with protein and vegetables.
In the third phase, the “consolidation” phase, fruits, starchy vegetables, bread, etc, are introduced in moderation and two celebration meals a week are allowed.
Last is the “stabilisation phase”, when you start introducing more foods back into your diet, but the seventh day should always be protein-only.
Is the Dukan Diet safe and is it healthy? I personally give it a big thumbs up. We’re not talking about eating only low fat protein for ever, it’s only for a relatively short period of time.
