The Prasouda Diet
The health industry today consists of heavily marketed quick-fix products. It seems that every week a new research study comes out, the findings are over-interpreted and spun so that they support a certain type of product, and everyone jumps on the bandwagon.
This would all be well and good except for one thing: It’s not working. Americans are still getting sicker and fatter than ever. And it’s not as if we as a country are simply unable to figure out what brings perfect health, hundreds of different populations around the world have had near-perfect health for centuries.
The Cretan people of the Greek islands have been found to be one of the healthiest groups of people on earth, eating different versions of the Prasouda diet. What they eat is undoubtedly very healthy, but then again, there are various other different populations eating completely different diets with near perfect health.
The connecting factor between the Prasouda diet and all the other diets that seem to give their followers perfect health is simply that they consist of nutrient-rich whole foods. None of these disease free people are supplementing antioxidants or fiber or the latest and greatest nutritional product, they’re simply doing what has kept them healthy all along.
The problem for Americans is that we’re always after the quick fix. We buy gluten free fast food, as if gluten is the only thing unhealthy about fast food. We buy antioxidant-rich green tea despite high levels of corn syrup. We keep trying to find that one nutrient that will fix everything for us, and in doing so lose sight of everything else.
The secret of the Prasouda diet or any other healthy diet is that there is no secret. People following these diets are healthy because they eat nutrient-rich whole foods every single day. It’s as simple as that.
