Trick your dinnerware and eat less

Simply by changing the type of dinnerware and cutlery you have, it’s possible to make dramatic changes to your calorie intake and gain more control over how much food is on your plate. Although this may seem like a relatively minor change, you will definitely see the difference when you step on the scale or look in the mirror. This is how you can consume less food and lose weight in the process with by adjusting your dinnerware.

Dinner Plates

Use a plate that’s around 13cm in size and you will end up eating less. The reason for this is that a smaller plate makes it look like you have more food. This in turn takes away that constrained ‘dieting’ feeling.

Drinking Glasses

Interestingly enough, things are different with glasses. A short glass has more poured into it than a tall glass. If you want to avoid taking too many drinks, use a taller glass instead of a short one.

Bowls

Don’t use bowls for anything other than salad. This applies for teacups as well as smaller-sized bowls. You will dramatically reduce your food intake by avoiding bowls as much as possible.

Spoons

As a general rule of thumb, the larger the spoon the more food it is capable of scooping up and eating. If your goal is to eat less, you want to use small spoons even if your job is to simply serve. This makes it easier for you to avoid over-eating.

Your Serving Dishes

Using a serving dish that’s smaller in size will prevent people from taking a lot of food. The same concept also applies to dishes that you can’t see through such as ceramics instead of glass. Making sure that your dishes are ceramic and smaller in size will make it so that you can avoid taking out too much food.

Changing your dinnerware in the ways brought up here may be a bit uncomfortable initially, but once you see the results of consuming less calories and food, you will be glad you did it.
